The Feliciana Tennis Community was borne from a group of enthusiastic tennis players in West Feliciana who initially just wanted a couple of new courts at the local park and professional instruction for kids and adults.  From this effort, a tremendous surge in tennis began and required some help and organization.  Since then, the FTC was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to raise funds for the growth and development of facilities and programs used by the tennis community.

To promote the general health and welfare of the youth and adults in West Feliciana Parish and the surrounding areas by fostering a community interest in the sport of tennis.

The Feliciana Tennis Community has accomplished quite a few goals since inception:

  1. Creation of a board of directors to set the strategic goals and direction for the FTC
  2. Acquired funding for facilities improvement at the West Feliciana Sports Park including:
    1. Conversion of two basketball courts into 2 full size tennis courts and 2 "Red Ball" courts
    2. Resurfacing of existing 4 courts
    3. Construction of a new hitting wall
  3. Held amateur adult tennis tournaments that have raised more than $15,000 for the local school system
  4. Hosted a Mixed Doubles league in 2015 and 2016
  5. Established instructional programs for junior and adult players
  6. Developed and conducted an in-school tennis program for the local elementary schools
  7. Implemented a scholarship program for enthusiastic youth who's families may not have the financial resources to fund lessons
